Sue Godwin Biography

Sue Godwin

Artist's Statement

My paintings are an expression of my appreciation for the beauty found in a variety of landscape types and locations.

I am inspired by the simple, and at times complex, splendor that is created by nature- vast open spaces, dramatic skies over rolling hills, the play of color and texture between land and sky.

Inspiring landscapes can also occur with some human assistance. Farm fields, golf courses, and vineyards are but a few of the vistas that can be a stunning collaboration of man and nature.

Acrylic paint, applied in many thin layers, or in bold, thick strokes, helps me to create my interpretation of the beauty around me.

Artist's Background

Sue Godwin was born and raised in Michigan, where her love of landscapes began.  She earned her Associates of Applied Science-Commercial Art degree in 1984 from Northwestern Michigan College. Over the years, Sue transitioned from being a graphic artist of many years, to stay-at-home-mom, to primary education assistant and para-educator. 2013 marked the fulfillment of her desire to be a full-time landscape artist.

Living in Kansas the last nineteen years, Sue has a deep appreciation for the rural landscape around her, as well as varied landscapes experienced on many travels in the U.S. and abroad. Sue’s artwork has been purchased and commissioned for both private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
